Our favorite beach is Mansion Beach! It was originally home to an actual mansion – the large, elegant home of Edward F. Searles, which burned down in the 1960s and was never rebuilt. Even without the mansion, the beach is one of the island’s most picturesque. Mansion Beach marks the north end of what’s known as Crescent Beach, and is generally less crowded.
The Frederick J. Benson Pavillion, also known as the "Town Beach" is located on Crescent Beach. It has a concession stand and visitors may also rent chairs, cabanas, umbrellas and boogie boards. There are lifeguards, showers and bathroom facilities as well.
Moped rentals are available at serval locations in town. This is a great way to see the island and have a little fun along the way.
Each year, 550 Glass Floats (glass orbs about the size of an orange) are hidden on Block Island beaches and greenway trails. It is basically a giant scavenger hunt. Floats will be dated, numbered and stamped with the shape of Block Island. All floats are clear glass except for 23 (for 2023), which are special colored orbs. This is one of our favorite views on the island. You can climb the set of 141 steps leading down to the sand or take pictures from the top of the bluffs.
There is also a separate lookout called "The Second Bluffs" where you can find an even better view of the bluffs!
Block Island has two lighthouses: North Light and Southeast Light. If you visit North Light, we recommend that you park your car (or moped/bike) and walk out to the end where the ocean meets on both sides.
Cooneymus Beach is on the west side of the island is great for catching sunsets. It is walking distance from the Colonnelli's house and we love walking down to the beach with a cocktail to catch the sunset just before it dips below the horizon.

It depends who you ask to find out who has the best mudslide on the island. Stefani loves them from Champlin's and Kevin says the best is Block Island Beach House.
